MAGICAL ARKESTRA COSMOS

The cosmos is the tense silence at the beginning of a Sun Ra concert, like a membrane of darkness, the forces of mayhem building on just the other side of it. A baritone note pulses on the hammond organ, and the knock-knock-knock of the dionysian drum visitors who want to come in and spread a little mirth and a touch of fear. The piano keys march on through, bouncing, giggling monsters that don’t mean any harm, and the trombone slides up, and then slides back down, and the all explode together in throaty goaty vocalizations and ecstatic dances. Sequined fabrics like starlit skies flash through the air, and suddenly it’s impossible to tell where sound ends and color begins. All the sonic gods and the visual gods move as one living Arkestra, the offspring of holy silence, allah.cipher, the divine absence.
